Studio VS in home session?
Whilst majority of my newborn sessions are now done in the studio, my time as a newborn & family photographer began with exclusively in home sessions! There was a time I didn’t have a studio space so this was my only option, and for around 8 years I made it work!
Now the choice is yours! Some families love the ease & simplicity of a studio shoot, I know others prefer the relaxed comfort of staying home. Please read below if you are still making up your mind!
STUDIO
My home studio has been designed & setup for dreamy newborn posing as well as sibling & immediate family portraits. For the most part you’ll be able to sit back, relax & watch! Due to the small space of my studio I can allow a maximum of 6 people only.
What You’ll Love:
✔️ Everything’s set up and ready to go when you arrive
✔️ Classic posed portraits of baby (and family too!)
✔️ My studio is stocked with blankets, wraps, props and baby-soothing tricks
✔️ No need to clean the house
✔️ 1-3 hours of relaxed shooting with enough time for feeding and soothing
Studio sessions are ideal if you:
✔️ Want classic, gallery-ready portraits of your newborn and your family
✔️ Prefer a clean, controlled environment where everything is taken care of
✔️ Don't want to think about tidying your house or worrying about light
IN-HOME SESSION
An in home lifestyle session might feel easier & more relaxed for your family with your new baby, if so, that’s ok! These sessions can be a little less posed and more about capturing images of your family in your comfortable & natural space! I will take a look around and decide where is the best light, I often use a combination of the loungeroom, bedroom and nursery.
What You’ll Love:

✔️ siblings can often feel more relaxed in their own space
✔️ Your photos will be deeply personal, storytelling & one of a kind!
✔️ No worrying about forgetting anything — we’re already home!
✔️ 1-3 hours of shooting, lightly guided and posed
✔️ I will bring a few bits and pieces, but mostly we use what's in your own home; blankets, swaddles, baby's own clothes
In-home lifestyle sessions are ideal if:
✔️ Want a more natural, lifestyle type record of your baby's early days
✔️ Feel most comfortable in your own space
✔️ Have other little ones who settle better at home
✔️ Love the idea of photos that capture your reality
